Online maps suck

I have lately been distrustful of online maps (not to mention the outdated Microsoft Streets and Trips 2004 I have installed on the machine here…and why their model for updates is ridiculously idiotic in this day and age may be the subject of a different post), and I was confirmed in my belief today when trying to find an address in West Lafayette.
Try to find 3001 Northwestern Avenue, West Lafayette, IN on any of the following: Microsoft Streets and Trips 2004, Google Maps, Yahoo Maps, Mapquest. You should end up with a pointer at something like Palmer Drive and Northwestern Avenue.
The problem is, when I look at Google Earth, that is NOT where the University Inn Conference Center and Suites is located. In fact, that facility’s website is pretty clear in its written directions that it is located at Cumberland Avenue and Northwestern Avenue, which is where I’d figure it was if I were looking at Google Earth. And yet…the hotel’s website links to a Google Map that puts it down at Palmer Drive.
I don’t think you can trust even the latest generation of online maps. I remember what a joke they used to be, and, well, they’re still a joke.
I’ll report back later when we get there. If we get there.
[Note added after trip: Of course, it was where Google Earth indicated it should be, and not where all the electronic maps said it was — NW corner of Cumberland and Northwestern.]
