My question about the new UniGov proposal

is what ever happened to Mayor Bart’s proposal to give $10 million to the Colts? That doesn’t seem to be on the table as far as I can see…and if it is still out there, that turns that alleged $35 million savings into $25 million really fast.
Whenever a politician comes up with a plan like this to save millions of dollars without raising taxes, taxpayers need to keep a close grip on their wallets. I predict that property taxes will be through the roof again within five years even if this proposal makes it through the legislature…which is frankly unlikely at this point.
(Apologies to those who come here looking for non-local rants. But there are two things I absolutely can’t abide: Yammering about our “need” to go on daylight savings time, and yammering about how to streamline our city government. In most cases “streamlining” is code for “we need more money”, regardless of which party is in control. Maybe the city ought to quit offering millions in tax abatements as incentives for companies to relocate here. Look how well that worked with the United maintenance center, for instance. Ed.: What United maintenance center? Exactly.)
