I think the cops were right

Woman Arrested for Eating in Subway
In most subways this probably wouldn’t be a big deal, but the DC subway prohibits food and drink in their stations and on their trains. I don’t think this is a bad thing; if nothing else, it keeps the trains clean. (There are also no public restrooms in the MetroRail system. Keeps the homeless out of the stations.)
This woman’s biggest mistake was telling the Metro cop, “Don’t you have some other crimes you have to take care of?”

“If she had stopped eating, it would have been the end of it and if she had just stopped for the issuance of a citation, she never would have been locked up,” Transit Police Chief Polly Hanson said Thursday.

Yep. But no, she had to be an idiot.
This ranks right up there with telling TSA you’ve got a bomb in your briefcase. I don’t care if cuffing and frisking her and detaining her for three hours seems overkill for what is really a trivial offense. What she did was fail to respect authority and the law.
