One more thing

To be honest, I’m less upset with Congress and the President for spending money like there’s no tomorrow when our very own Indiana state government can’t seem to turn off the spigot either. And our very own Indiana state government (and allegedly most Hoosiers, but I don’t believe this poll; they asked too few people, and it sounds like they were mostly Dumbs) want to raise the income tax to pay for their profligacy. Apparently they never heard of WHEN YA AIN’T GOT IT, DON’T SPEND IT. (Fire half the people at the BMV to start with.)
This is what happens when Democrats are in charge. You can’t trust them as far as you can throw them. State gov wants to have all-day kindergarten, with all the associated costs for that. Wait till we get hit with the bill for Jimmy Irsay’s new stadium in Indianapolis.
At least I assume the Pubbies know they can’t raise taxes and stay in government, and will have to rely on the growing economy to pay for their misdeeds. Dumbs will just raise your taxes and let the economy go to shit.
[LATER] I know it doesn’t sound logical to say the state should spend within its means and the country doesn’t need to worry about that. In my opinion, both state and federal government have their fingers in too many pies that don’t belong to them. But I’m less worried about the federal government overspending because of its mandate for national security than I am about the state government overspending. State government will always look to raising rather than cutting expenditures, partly because the more it spends, the better placed it is to continue receiving handouts from the feds (in the grand tradition of “use it or lose it”). The problem is that the state, having a balanced budget provision in its constitution, will always try to balance the budget on the backs of the taxpayers. The federal government can run deficits rather than raise taxes, and I am certain that this was fully understood by the Framers.
What was apparently not understood by the Framers was that a generation or six would arise who didn’t believe it was necessary to pay that money back. And that is a problem.
