Savings time, that is.
What I’d really like to know is why we can’t just LEAVE THE EXISTING SYSTEM ALONE. The arguments that nobody knows what time it is in Indiana are mostly bogus. The way business works today, it doesn’t really matter what time it is here.
I find it particularly interesting that now that Gannett owns our local paper, it’s all on the side of going to DST. I seem to recall that our local paper didn’t used to take this stance. Maybe I recall incorrectly.
The other side of the coin is, why the hell doesn’t everybody else get off this daylight savings time kick? Why couldn’t businesses say, sure, you want an extra hour of daylight at night, come in at 7 and leave at 4? Why fuck with the clocks at all?
At least now our idiot governor is warming to the idea that maybe we ought to be on Chicago time (180 miles north) instead of NYC time (900+ miles east). Just give up the “spring ahead, fall back” crap, Governor, and maybe we’ll see eye to eye.
What this state sorely needs is a Republican governor, not DST.
