Vanderleun over at American Digest makes a good point or six. He’s just disabled comments on his blog.
I agree wholeheartedly. These are my thoughts and rants. As it says at the top of the blog, “Don’t like what I have to say? Get your own blog.”
That being said, what I’d really like to see the Movable Type people do is add two features:
- Comment moderation (ie, comments don’t show up until a blog editor approves them); and
- Comment expiration (ie, you can only comment on a given posting for x number of hours/days before comments are closed for that posting).
If those two features existed I might be inclined to open comments back up.
[MUCH LATER] Just for the record, I stopped allowing comments almost a year ago, I did not do this in knee-jerk reaction to Vanderleun’s posting. The last comment posted on this blog was back in April 2003.
