In other news

Dish Network is being a pain in the ass about graciously allowing us to turn off their service. Apparently I am the only person who can tell them to do that, even though my wife is the one who made all the arrangements several years ago to get it moved over to the house and installed.

I am thoroughly sick and tired of corporations who will do anything, including taking you hostage, to keep your business. Fuck them. They are going to get an earful from me tonight.

UPDATE: Snippy bitch. Started in on her, well, we have less expensive package spiel, and I cut in and told her no, I wanted to cancel. A long silence ensued. I said, hello, she said, yes, and I said, I want to cancel. Well, sir we have these less expensi...

I said, Look. I don't want to hear about your less expensive packages. I want to cancel.

Well. Blah blah blah about sending back the receivers and so forth etc ad nauseum.

I swear, if she hadn't decided to cut her losses after the second go-around, I was going to ask her what part of CANCEL she didn't understand.

These people get all huffy and try to put the blame on the customer. Fuck that. Fuck Dish Network, who will NEVER get another kind word from me, or my wife who used to sell their service (which was why we had them in the first place; I had DirecTV when we met).

DISH NETWORK == BAD NEWS.

That's for the search engines.

(And yes, I know they have a script they are supposed to work from. Guess what. The customer is always right, even when he's demonstrably wrong. If the customer doesn't want to hear your fucking script, give the customer what he wants. That is customer service, and it is sadly lacking at these large, faceless "service" corporations that have bought up all the competition and are sitting fat and sassy on a customer network that hardly ever complains.)
