Those who know me know that I've been a Scouter for quite a number of years (30 this past June, as a matter of fact), and that I've always unreservedly supported the Scouting program.
Earlier this year, I got unceremoniously dropped off the district charter, which was the only membership I still held in the organization. Apparently this happened to quite a few old-timers, and now I'm told that a letter was actually supposed to go out to us, asking if we were still interested in being involved, but that somebody dropped the ball and that letter never got mailed.
In the meantime, of course, I'd been hit up at least twice for a Friends of Scouting donation, the money for which after the aforementioned unceremonious dump I was going to repurpose somewhere else.
But today I made the right connection downtown and I'm going to be put back on the district charter, even backdated so that I don't lose any tenure.
So I guess I will need to re-rethink my charitable donations this year :)
