The Battle of Midway -- in my opinion, the "Gettysburg of the Pacific War", AKA "high water mark of the Empire of Japan" -- occurred at around this time (June 4-7) in 1942. Six months after Pearl Harbor and its worst defeat in history, the US Navy was back kicking butt and taking names. Go Navy!
P.S. (later): Yes, I know it's D-Day. I'm a Pacific War historian, not a European War historian.
