I just opened my alarm monitoring bill, and noticed that it was now $26.70 rather than $24.95.
At the top of the statement it said, "Your statement for 24-hour monitoring reflects a nominal 7% rate increase."
7% is nominal? Dictionary.Com says (in the most pertinent definition)
2. (of a price, consideration, etc.) named as a mere matter of form, being trifling in comparison with the actual value; minimal.
To be honest, nearly $2 is not "minimal" or "trifling". Basically I'm paying in 12 months what I used to pay in 13. So that's a whole 'nother monthly payment a year...and that's not "nominal".
I feel a shitty letter coming on. Besides which, I thought we had a contract. (Although it may have expired, but I haven't heard anything from them about that.)
