We had to go to Cleveland over the weekend to attend a funeral, and I just want to plug two eateries.
First, DeGaetano's Village Square Pizza in Beachwood. Best. Damn. Pizza. Ever. Known as "that hole in the wall pizza place" by our Cleveland family.
Second, Jack's Deli and Restaurant in University Heights. Best. Corned Beef. Ever. Puts Shapiro's to shame, plus it's a sit-down restaurant -- not a cafeteria like Shapiro's. Closer to home than 3G's Deli in Delray Beach, Florida, too, which also puts Shapiro's to shame :)
We had breakfast at Jack's yesterday morning. Mmm. Mmm. Good. And then Alvie Markowitz his own bad self sliced me up a pound of corned beef to take home. You gotta love a restauranteur who keeps his hands in the business (as long as he keeps them well away from the slicer blade). Yesterday they had samples up on the display case -- noodle kugel on a stick! It was just like being at the State Fair. Sort of. :)
Both restaurants highly recommended if you find yourself on the east side of the Mistake on the Lake.
