Incredible

The IndyStar has a poll for us.

Gee, what's missing there?

Maybe, "At least 153 murders in Indianapolis in 2006 is most since 162 in 1998 with no end in sight for 2007"? Or what about "IMPD police consolidation makes city no safer, costs more money than expected"? Or, ooh, I know, "Unlicensed and unpermitted bar constructed in Julia Carson Government Center by crooked CCC members and their crooked families"?

Where the fuck are the Star's priorities? Evan Bayh, for instance, is one of the biggest non-stories of the year. He had no chance. None. Nobody outside of Indiana knows who he is.

But Baby Bayh is clearly more important to the Gannett Star than at least 153 murders in Indianapolis in 2006, or the ruination of our police and sheriff's departments. Or a bar in a public building without permits or licensing.

We need a good independent crusading daily paper in this town. Too bad the Times isn't around anymore to give the Star some competition.
