Want a chilling post-mortem factor?

Try looking at the turnout yesterday in Marion County.

I'll go out on a limb and guess that there are 600,000 registered voters in Marion County, based on this Marion County Election Board page that hasn't been updated since 2001, even though it's dated 2006.

Yesterday, approximately 188,000 voted in the prosecutor's race. Fewer seemed to vote in other races (e.g., 135,000 voted in the essentially uncontested senatorial race). Just looking through the Star's election results it looks like that race may have gotten the most votes in Marion County.

188K out of 600K is 31% turnout, and many of the races were close.

In other words, Marion County Republicans did this to themselves. All you had to do was get off your lazy butts yesterday and brave a little sprinkle of rain and Julia and Frank might be looking for new jobs today.

Republicans in this town disgust me.
