Although I do have to say up front that Dr. White's "apparel taskforce" to recommend appropriate clothing rules for IPS is ridiculous. Tell the little shits to pull up their pants, lower their skirt hems, and dress like civilized human beings instead of hos and thugs. Discipline is one of the general subjects of any education, and dressing soberly is part of that discipline.
And the BS about "avoiding infringing on students' right to express themselves" is exactly that -- BS. Students can express themselves on their own time. In school they need to do as they're told.
I'll never forget the girl in my grade back in junior high school who thought she'd be cool and appear in shorts that were slit (in several places) up well past the thigh. While that may have been expressive, nevertheless she was escorted out of her first period class by an assistant principal and sent home. That was back in about 1973 in the school district lately superintended by Dr. White (but long before he came there).
