Ran across this while looking for turnout stats (page down to "11:41 AM -- Stay clear of polls"):
Election officials warn campaigners to stay away from the entrances to designated voting areas.Indiana law requires that campaigners and voters be separated by at least 50 feet. Nothing should be handed out or displayed in that area, according to Mark Sullivan, vice chairman of the Marion County Election Board.
Sullivan said he'd received some questions about the 50-foot-rule, but that no one has filed a complaint yet. If someone does complain, Sullivan would ask police to investigate to see if a violation occurred. Those investigations could lead to misdemeanor charges, jail sentences and fines, Sullivan warned.
Complaints, he said, can be filed with county election boards.
I think I might just file a complaint. When I walked up to the polling place, there were three people standing just outside the door, all set to accost me with literature. I told them to get the hell out of my way.
When my Dad was the Republican inspector at that poll for a number of years, nobody got that close to the doors.
We had the same problem over in Pike at the condo every time there was an election. I thought I bitched about it here, but I can't find the post.
