Democrats lie, and call it hist...oh, wait, that was an earlier topic.

But Democrats do lie. One of the benefits of being married to a registered Democrat is that we get all of the Democratic Party's lies, er, mailers. The one today from the Indiana Democratic State Committee enveighs us to vote against Kathryn Densborn, candidate for Indiana House District 86, because "Densborn opposes stem cell research which holds the promise of treating: Heart failure, Alzheimer's disease," etc.

It also gives a web site to "check the facts":

1. Kathryn Densborn opposes research on stem cells.

However, if you actually bother to type that in and look at the page, you find all kinds of things that Ms. Densborn responded to in a survey. The question she actually responded to was

Do you support a ban on research using the stem cells from intentionally destroyed human embryos?

That's a long way from asking if one opposes all stem cell research unconditionally. For one thing, it doesn't cover adult stem cell research, and it doesn't cover the embryonic stem cell lines that have already been approved for research.

In fact, the Democrats are tarring Ms. Densborn with a pretty wide brush given that the question was pretty narrowly drawn.

There are other lies in the pamphlet..."Densborn is blocking the way. We can cure fatal diseases." Bullshit. There have been indications that stem cell therapy MIGHT be able to cure fatal diseases. The jury is still out on that.

Given what I'm seeing, I'd say, vote YES on Kathryn Densborn, because the Democrats are too extreme for us.

Her complete answers to that particular survey are reproduced in the extended entry, if you're too lazy to click the link.
