Historical note

In 2000, the total popular vote was 105,326,325 for all parties.

In 2004, just between Bush and Kerry, it's already 113,207,261. That's a 7,880,936 or 7.5% increase in the popular vote over 2004. I wonder what the overall turnout percentage was this time. It's got to be close to 60%.
