No such thing in an all-volunteer force

Soldier Says He's Conscientious Objector

Impossible unless there's an active draft. This guy VOLUNTEERED. The Marines ought to quash the conscientious objection crap and charge him with willful disobedience of orders.

A dishonorable discharge is the very least of what ought to happen to this befuddled young man.

FWIW I can't find this anywhere except at the NY Times and at the site of "US Labor Against the War" (must be another commie front like ANSWER). Fox and CNN, at least, seem to be ignoring it. I wouldn't have heard about it except that Rush mentioned it today.

UPDATE: Ah, I see Best of the Web has it, too.

UPDATE: I'm aware that it's legally possible to be a conscientious objector in today's all-volunteer force. But it's not morally or ethically possible. It sounds like this kid only joined so he could go to college on the cheap. Now that's mercenary.
