Yesterday began nine days well-known to all Civil War historians, enthusiasts, and buffs: The nine days, beginning with the Battle of Five Forks, that led directly to Lee's abandonment of the Richmond-Petersburg line and his subsequent surrender, to Grant, of the Army of Northern Virginia at Appomattox Courthouse on April 9, 1865.
Maybe by April 9, 2003, Saddam (or his successors, since Saddam is dead) will be suing for peace.
