I've just been sitting here trying to wrap my mind around the concept of imbedded journalists in W.T. Sherman's Army of Georgia. (Hanson didn't mention this; it just came to mind as I was reading him.) Talk about a cats and dogs situation...Sherman would have had them all shot by the time he got to Savannah, and probably rightly so (journalism of the period being what it was). It is truly a different age.
