Barack is in trouble.

If I didn’t think that already, our stop at DQ last night on the way home from the airport was enlightening.

Older black gentleman and his wife were right behind us in line.  And he spent a lot of time talking about how sick and tired he was of seeing “that man” on the TV waving his hands around and shit.  Except he didn’t say “shit” because he was a gentleman.

These people were middle-class types just like us.  And did not care for the first black president one whit.

When you lose your base — and I will guarantee you that these people vote, and my best guess is that they probably normally vote Democrat — you are in deep shit.  The more I see and hear this sort of thing, the more I think Hillary is just going to be the sour icing on the shit cake that the Democrats are going to end up eating in 2016.

We can only hope.

ETA:  My wife told me last night that her parents were very worried about Hillary and did not know what they would do if (or more to the point, when) she got the Democratic nomination.  My in-laws are hardline Democrats but they absolutely abhor Hillary Clinton, mostly because she makes women look bad, but also because I think they realize that she is a crook of the first water.  Again:  When you lose your base like this, you are starting to look at McGovern ’72 territory…and at 40 years’ remove from the Great Society, with all the resulting societal ills that are starting to bear rotten fruit (Baltimore, Ferguson, etc.), “a defeat of Biblical proportion” doesn’t even begin to describe the likelihood of what is going to happen to Democrats after a couple more years of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.
